A multistem deciduous shrub with a upright, spreading habit of growth. Double, strongly scented, large, red-purple blooms in late spring. Blooms emerge from distinctive deep pink flower buds. Early bloomer. Features heart-shaped bluish-green foliage throughout the season turning to a yellow colour in fall. Ideal for screening. Allow room for air movement. Tends to sucker. Deer do not particularly care for this plant.
